What does “in Google News” mean here?

It means the domain has a validated Google News publication — a real news.google.com/publications/… page that resolves. Domains marked Absent have no such publication and redirect to the Google News home.

Is the status the same in every country?

Yes. A validated publication resolves the same way in every edition (country/language). The market only changes the display language, not whether the publication exists — so one check per domain is enough.

Does a subdomain inherit the root domain's status?

No — a subdomain and its root are independent. stories.featurd.io can be in Google News while featurd.io is absent. That's why we don't strip www. or sub-labels unless you do.

How many domains can I check at once?
